How Do retainers Work?

The fixed braces will be removed once the teeth have moved into a satisfactory position. Removable and sometimes fixed retainers will be fitted. The patient is required to wear removable retainer initially full time to be followed by night time wear for a further period. Teeth may revert back to their pre-treatment position if the patient fails to wear retainers as instructed.

Fixed Retainer

It is a thin piece of wire bonded permanently behind the bottom teeth to prevent relapse.

Removable Retainer

The removable retainers are removable braces to hold the teeth in their new position and allow the jaw bone, gums and muscles to slowly adapt to the new environment
